Shared SSL Certificate : SSL stands for Secured Socket Layer, and is a technique for encrypting traffic between a client’s computer and a web server. A shared SSL certificate is a certificate which is registered under one domain name, for example webhosting.com, and with which customers can secure their site, but would do so using their domain as a 3rd level domain under webhosting.com. So, if your domain name is yourdomain.com, and you wanted a shared certificate to secure the site, the secure URL would be https://yourdomain.webhosting.com. |
